Mary’s image is based on her statue on Apparition Hill in Medjugorje. At the bottom of the medal is the date of her first apparition of 24-6-81 or June 24, 1981. The back of the medal shows the Cross statue at Križevac Hill (Cross Mountain Hill). On June 24, 1981, Blessed Virgin Mary began appearing to six children from the village of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina. Pilgrimages to Medjugorje have become very popular, and in 2019 the Vatican authorized such pilgrimages. The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece.
