Description: This is a phenomenal antique print that is over 270 years old (1730s). It depicts several military pennants (staffs, flags) of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th Century. Included are the pennant of the Janissaries (an infantry unit that formed the Ottoma sultan's household troops and bodyguards), the flag of the Grand Vizier (the greatest minister of the Sultan, with absolute power of attorney and, in principle, dismissable only by the Sultan himself), and the cavalry. The print is a high quality antique copper engraving. You can clearly see the platemark. The detail is amazing. Extremely rare. It is hard to show how beautiful this print is in these photos on ebay. You can see the impression of the plate mark. The paper is thick and of high quality so it holds the details well. See pictures for a better idea of the condition. The print measures approx. 9.2 x 15.75 inches (23 x 40 cm), and the actual image size (without margins) is approx. 8.5 x 12 inches. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
