THERE IS ONE CONDITION ISSUE, WHICH IS THAT THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE RECEIPT WAS LEFT IN THE BOOK AND DISCOLORED SEVERAL LEAVES. -The receipt was placed between pages 12-13 where Chapter 1 begins (PHOTO 11). This is the darkest discoloration. Pages 14-15 (PHOTO 9) also show discoloration with pages 16-17 (PHOTO 12) showing a hint. (PHOTO 10) shows the receipt itself and also lighter but quite visible toning on pages 10-11. (PHOTO 8) shows pages 8-9 which are also lightly discolored. Overall the five photos show the ten pages impacted by that little receipt. The receipt is included but is wrapped in acid free tissue at this point. - THE BOOK HAS NO WRITING, NO TEARS AND NO CREASES. With the exception of the rectangle of evil caused by the receipt, age related paper toning is the only real condition issue. This is a very scarce book in a nice jacket and overall condition remains very good despite the price label. It is very hard to locate a copy like this one which is not an ex-library copy PLEASE USE ZOOM FUNCTION ON ALL PHOTOS AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.The Unimportance of Being Oscar is a 1968 memoir by writer/pianist/radio personality/actor Oscar Levant. The book is known for Oscar's laconic witticisms, such as "everyone in Hollywood is gay, except Gabby Hayes — and that's because he is a transvestite." Oscar Levant was a genius. His sense of humor, coupled with his intelligence and his knowledge of the personalities of his time, make this required reading who have interest in classical music, arts and letters and the humanity of many of those who we still hold in awe. bs % Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE PLEASE NOTE: For book sales, I virtually always include a vinyl bag tightly wrapped on the exterior. This is an attempt to prevent any USPS employee from opening the package for inspection as it would be time consuming for them to repackage it. This is done simply because my packaging is done more carefully than their repackaging and also to protect the book from the elements. The vinyl bag covers cardboard protection and you can simply cut the bag open (carefully) and remove the contents. The cardboard protection is also typically held with tape and cutting in the obvious places will allow the cardboard to pop right open, exposing the book (in another protective vinyl bag). Using this method, you should be able to open any book I send in under a minute. No "buzz saw" is required. Thank you
