ORVILLE WRIGHT - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 04/04/1935 - HFSID 167842 ORVILLE WRIGHT. The famed aviator sends a letter regarding certain goods sold and the proceeds received. TLS: "Orville Wright", 1p, 7x10. On personal letterhead. Dayton, Ohio, 1935 April 4. To Willard Dickerson, Jonesboro, Indiana. In full: "I have your draft for $615.07 together with the weigh bills. More information is needed to make out my report to the heirs. The weigh bills show the amount that was sold but there is nothing to inicate how much was received per bushel or ton; excepting you have already told me that you received $1.00 per bushel for the soy beans. The heirs in the West were all raised on a farm and they are always interested in having all possible information. Please let me know how much has been withheld for seed of oats, corn and soy beans. How much hay is still on hand to be sold." A handwritten note on verso responds to Wright's questions. At Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on December 17, 1903, Orville Wright made the first flight in a heavier-than-air machine, flying 120 feet in 12 seconds. Following his brother Wilbur's death in 1912, Orville became President of the Wright Company and continued as a pioneer in the aviation industry. Lightly creased, not at signature. Light show through of writing on verso touches but doesn't affect legibility of text and signature. Yellowed at upper left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
