The book is really old, which printed 107 years ago, but not more late re-edition or modern reprint. The Resurrection New Jerusalem Monastery is a historically stauropegic monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church in the city of Istra, Moscow Region. The New Jerusalem Monastery, founded by Nikon in 1656, was located on a hilly peninsula formed by the bend of the Istra River. It got its name because the main cathedral of the monastery was an exact copy of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. As conceived by Patriarch Nikon under Moscow was supposed to recreate the complex of the holy sites of Palestine. Descriptions of the monastery, by A. Muravyov, I. Snegirev and other authors appear. In total, more than twenty pilgrimage descriptions of the second half of the 18th - early 20th centuries are known, which became sources of information about the structures and details of the architectural complex that have been lost to date, the features of the liturgical practice characteristic only of this monastery, the life of the inhabitants and pilgrims. In 1869, a prominent scientist, archaeographer Leonid (Kavelin) was appointed archimandrite of the monastery. The years spent in New Jerusalem became a time of fruitful scientific activity for him. In his work Historical Description of the Resurrection, New Jerusalem of the Called Monastery (1876), Leonid first published documents of the 17th century (later lost) from the archives of the monastery. Воскресенский Новоиерусалимский монастырь - исторически ставропигиальный мужской монастырь Русской православной церкви в городе Истре Московской области. Ново-Иерусалимский монастырь, основанный Никоном в 1656 г., был расположен на холмистом полуострове, образуемом изгибом реки Истры. Получил свое название потому, что главный собор монастыря был точной копией храма Гроба Господня в Иерусалиме. По замыслу Патриарха Никона под Москвой должен был быть воссоздан комплекс святых мест Палестины. Появляются описания монастыря, А. Н. Муравьева, И. М. Снегирева и других авторов. Всего известно более двадцати паломнических описаний второй половины XVIII — начала XX века, которые стали источниками сведений об утраченных к настоящему времени сооружениях и деталях архитектурного комплекса, особенностях богослужебной практики, характерной только для этого монастыря, быта насельников и богомольцев. В 1869 году архимандритом монастыря был назначен видный ученый, археограф Леонид (Кавелин). Годы, проведенные в Новом Иерусалиме стали для него временем плодотворной научной деятельности. В своем труде «Историческое описание Воскресенского, Новый Иерусалим именуемого монастыря» (1876) Леонид впервые опубликовал документы XVII века (позднее утраченные) из архивов обители.
