Description: Presented is a fine German silver fish or dessert knife. This piece dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s, and is likely by a Hanau maker. The handle is done in an interesting design, with a nude demi-caryatid sort of figure holding a large wreath and crown above her head. The blade of the knife is beautifully pierced and engraved with a scrolling foliate design. Applied to the blade right above the handle is a design of an eagle with its wings spread inside a shield shape. The knife is very well made, with a nice feeling of weight and balance in the hand. This piece is in excellent condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The knife is stamped with two Hanau German type hallmarks, one of a capital K and one of a cluster of grapes. We guarantee these to be at least .850 purity silver. The knife is about 8 1/2 inches long. The knife weighs 80 grams. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
