Description: This is what I believe to be a cut piece of aluminum from the engine block of a Luftwaffe Junkers JU-88 twin-engined multi-role combat aircraft from the Second World War. This fragment measures 9 cm in length (just over 3"), 6 cm in width (2 1/2") and is about 15mm in thickness (1/2"). It appears part of the piece was broken (perhaps during a landing) while the remainder was actually removed with a saw. Someone has penciled in the following on the face: "?? JU 88, 1944 May" which is presumably either when the aircraft was downed, or when the souvenir was taken. An interesting curio for sure, and a fine item to add to your collection of WW2 aircraft related items, or German Lufewaffe memorabilia. Please check our other auctions for more military field equipment, uniforms, helmets, hats, insignia, patches, badges, bayonets and knives, and weapon-related gear.
