Total measurements: approx. 96,5x68cm Condition report: poster is overall in worse condition, was stored rolled, shows some fold lines, also shows tears and creasing especially on edges, in corners and in fold lines, bigger tear in the lower left margin area Historical context: The February Coup - or the February Putsch, also February 1948, from the point of view of the Communists: Victorious February - is the name of the communist coup in Czechoslovakia, which took place between February 17 and 25, 1948. Today it is perceived (by non-communists) as a transition from democracy to totalitarianism, joining the Soviet power bloc, the beginning of the oppression of the population and economic decline. During the period of socialism, February 25 was celebrated as an important day of Czechoslovakia. The transition of power into the hands of the communists led to internal and external dependence of the state's policy on the Soviet Union, political processes, imprisonment of politically and ideologically inconvenient persons, forced emigration and persecution of opponents. The totalitarian regime lasted for the next 41 years and ended with the Velvet Revolution in 1989 (Wiki).
