Zbrojovka Brno was a Czechoslovak company and weapons manufacturer. In addition to weapons, however, it also produced other industrial products, and between 1924–1936 also cars.Original Austrian Viennese arms company "Waffenhauptfabrik - Filiale Brunn" was nationalized in 1918 under the name of the Czechoslovak Weapons Factory in Brno. She repaired automobiles, rifles, telephone and railroad equipment and tools. She also assembled German and Austrian Mauser and Mannlicher rifles, later her own. In 1924–1925, a new factory was built where, in addition to rifles and machine guns, cars, engines and other machines were also produced. In the 1930s, it also produced licensed Remington typewriters and Skoda tractors.During World War II, it produced weapons for the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS. In 1944, the factory was seriously damaged during the bombing of Brno. After the liberation, it worked again. In the second half of the 1940s, it produced engines, weapons and tractors. In November 1945, a prototype of the Zetor Z-25 tractor was produced, the name Zetor, which has remained to this day, comes from the words "Zet" (spelled the first letter of zbrojovka) and "or" (the end of the word tractor).In the 1980s, the company reorients itself mainly to communication and computing technologies and engineering, at the expense of the production and repair of weapons. In the 1990s, the number of employees begins to decline. From 2003, the company began to go bankrupt. In June 2006, the production of weapons was terminated and on 31 August 2006 the last employees were dismissed (Wiki).
