He was a poet, author and painter who was known for painting “The Old Swimming Hole”, a painting that depicted the poem by James Whitcomb Riley. In an effort to raise money for a statue of Riley, Bixler would speed paint “The old swimming hole” picture to any school that donated money. Between 1912-1918, he painted it 5000 times. This is an original oil painting on a wooden board. The painting is 17 1/2 x27 1/2 inches. It is truly a one of a kind original. Date is unknown
