Description: Original Antique Orientalist Fine Pencil Drawing Young Boy Sleeping Circa 1850 Original Antique British Orientalist ca. 1850 Pencil Drawing Study of Young Boy in Moroccan or Turkish costume Sleeping Extremely beautiful drawing study of a young boy in what appears to be North African (Algerian, Moroccan, Tunisian) or Turkish costume. The boy's face is masterfully drawn and he appears to be in a blissful sleep. This is clearly the work of a renown artist, as it is as study, and the boy has his right arm placed down and at top, and there is an additional foot, as artist was clearly working on what would be best composition. The drawing appears to be signed in oxidized ink at upper right corner, but it is not legible. Against the light, you can see that there is an additional drawing on the back of the paper of the drawing of the boy, but it is covered by the thin paper that covers the verso. Provenance: purchased from a UK collection Condition: Good condition. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Very thin paper pasted on top of another paper. Thin paper is creased; minor stains, some fading at edges, foxing.
