Description: An interesting and highly detailed, steel-engraved map of part of India including part of Gujurat and Malwa in the Punjab region. The map (India Sheet 6), which has original outline hand-colouring was engraved by J & C Walker and published by Charles Knight and Co. under the superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK) in November 1845. Published while India was still part of the British Empire, it is very detailed and identifies settlements and topography. The printed area measures approximately 350mm x 355mm with margins beyond, blank verso. Good condition, light toning to marginal areas away from the printed area, light crease to top left of sheet away from printed area (see photograph).
