Description: ORIGINAL Anti-Flash Eyeshield in ORIGINAL Envelope of Issue Click images to enlarge Description This an ORIGINAL Anti-Flash Eyeshield as issued to GIs during WWII. The eyeshields were intended to protect the eyes from the burning effects of explosives or other munitions, similar to those issued by the British. As such, they could be issued to engineers and artillerymen, although there is little photographic evidence that they were worn for that purpose. More than likely, they were simply worn as a light weight dust goggle, as Erwin Rommel did with the British eyeshields he's so famously photgraphed wearing in Africa. The anti-flash eyeshields are still in the original envelope of issue (see image), which contains one clear plastic or vinyl lens (see images below of each eyeshield). When worn, the visor is snapped to the lens, which also provides some shade for the eyes as well (see images below). Perhaps needless to say, the eyeshields are in EXCELLENT, MINT and unused condition. Here's an opportunity for the advanced collector to obtain an usual item for the collection. Although I'm sure that the buyer will be pleased with the eyeshield, you will nonetheless have my usual five-day right of inspection and return privilege.
