Description: Handsome, brightly-colored large-format original antique fold-out map of the 1901 soil survey of Imperial and vicinity. This map opens up to 24½" x 15½" and is drawn on a scale of one inch to one mile, with contour intervals at five feet. The legend keys identify the types of soil and the soil profile at a depth of six feet throughout the coverage area. Named places and features include Calexico, Imperial, numerous canals and ditches, the border with Mexico, and Mesquite Lake. The soils were surveyed by J. Garnett Holmes, and the map was published by the Bureau of Soils, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C., in 1901. It is gridded to show township and range lines, and it is dated in the lower corner. Condition: It is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side and it folds to 9" x 5¾". Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. This is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. Buy with confidence!
