Description: Elephants like these were used for campaigning by New Hampshire Republican Styles Bridges who served as a U. S. Senator from 1937 until his death in 1961. He also served as Senate Minority Leader and President Pro Tempore. There is a Style Bridges Room at the US Capitol. Earlier in his career in 1934, he became Governor of New Hampshire. At that time, he was the youngest governor in the country. This ceramic elephant is 2.5 inches high and 2 inches wide. The pictures show Bridges on one side of the elephant and GOP on the other side. These elephants were intentionally made with a hollow right hoof. This is clearly shown in the last two pictures.
