Description: ON SALE.. PRICE JUST DROPPED FROM $525.95 TO $449.95. Beautiful and Rare Collectible Dolona Roberts Limited Edition Serigraph entitled "The Silk Robe" painted in 1984. This framed Serigraph is numbered 96/100 and obviously belonged to the original owner, having an original certificate of authenticity. It is hand signed in two places and the image measures 8"x 10", with the double matted frame measuring 12"x 15". The image is in excellent condition, with the outer mat having a small defect as can be seen in the right upper corner. This piece is part of the artist, Dolona Roberts' renowned "Blanket Collection", which portray the backs of Pueblo Indian women during their mystical ritual. This world acclaimed artist was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1936. She paints in her own distinctive style that includes abstract expressionism and representational Southwest art. Dolona Roberts' has been the recipient of a number of awards, including the Artist of the Year Award from the Santa Fean in 1981, Roberts was named Artist of the Year by the Santa Fean, and in 1985, she was chosen to create original Easter egg paintings for the White House, paintings that are now housed at the Smithsonian Institution. Each of her unique flowing, multicolored, geometric designs is a combination of realistic and abstract. Her distinctively brilliant colored series of Blankets paintings are created from her own unique technique involving grinding chalk and mixing it with turpentine or a fixative, then applying the mixture as a wash and using a turpentine- soaked brush to produce a fluid, water- color effect. As the series became more popular, she experimented and refined her use of materials to include a variety of pigments, thickeners, softeners, catalysts, extenders, and metallic and pearlescent bases. While this piece has apparently never been removed from its original framing, there has been wear and tear on the back page used in the framing process. While lending to its authenticity, you may want to revise or replace it for additional protection of this beautiful piece. I will cover the backing and will ship it insured to any location in the U.S. I had an additional piece lovely piece that belonged to the same original owner, entitled, "San Geronimo Day" that has the same framing. Please see it in another listing eBay item number:303114127154. If you would like to purchase both, I will offer a 5% discount on each piece.
