old Commodore Micro RECORD PLAYER ** 45 RPM Made In Japan ** Partially Tested

Description: Here is a neat vintage old record player, a very compact and portable battery operated player for 45 RPM records. This is a COMMODORE MICRO RECORD PLAYER as identified on the front; the back has MADE IN JAPAN embossed near the bottom. When the cover is opened, one can see the record spindle, the rubber wheel that drives / turns the record, the tone arm, off/on switch, a speed adjustment knob, volume control, and the speaker. Embossed on the inside of the cover is TRANSISTORIZED PRECISION INSTRUMENT. Quite a bit in a very small package! This runs on batteries; two C batteries for the motor drive, and a 9 volt battery for the speaker/amplifier. I tested with batteries; the motor runs and the drive wheel turns; and the speaker appears to work, but had static. When I look at the tone arm, it appears to have split at one time, and perhaps was glued back together. There appears to be something at the needle/stylus location, but looks to me like it needs a new needle as I'm not sure it is complete. So... was not able to test completely with a record on it. Thus, consider this item AS IS, and needing some repairs, etc. One additional item, on the hinges, one plastic hinge is broken off... see photos. But still able to attach cover ok with the existing hinge and pin. A very unusual item for those who collect records and record players. NOTE: Batteries are not included with this auction. With original strap. Measures ~ 5 1/4" long x 4 1/8" wide x 2" depth with cover closed. Vintage used, partially tested... motor runs and disc wheel turns; speaker makes noise, but looks like a needle may be needed. Some wear and mars on the case, inside looks like no corrosion, but can use some cleanup for dust, etc. This will make a nice addition to your collection, or for a restoration project..
