Description: ARTIST: Otto Pontoppidan is a well-listed Danish artist of whom little information is available. He was born on the Danish island, Bornholm, in 1912 and was a student of Albert Pedersen from 1941-1943. He went on study trips to Norway, Sweden, Finland, England and Germany. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is a romantic and warm colored rendering of 2 people – presumably a married couple or maybe old friends – standing on the beach and watching a beautiful sunset over the ocean. To the right in the foreground is a dune. Based on the type of frame, I’ll date the painting to somewhere between 1960-1979. Signed: “Otto Pontoppidan” in the lower middle section. SIZE: With frame: 58,5 cm/23" * 48,5 cm/19.1". Without frame: 49 cm/19.3" * 39 cm/15.4" CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has minor scratches and stains.
