Illustrations include an 1846 sketch by Howe of the Public Square in Coshocton, an 1888 photo of the Public Square, and the Forks of the Muskingum. Among the many and diverse topics in the booklet are: Moravian Missionaries, Indian villages, Bouquet's Expedition against the Indians in 1764, local ancient burial grounds, Capt. Thomas Hutchins known as the "Geographer-General", Broadhead's Expedition in 1780 to prevent the Indians from joining the British, "King Charley" and Mother Renfree. GENEALOGY BUFFS will find a list of 1888 county officers and businesses. A 1933 look at the history of newspapers in the county, a map identifying Ohio's 88 counties and a map of 1805 Ohio are also included. From a 1941 Ohio history there are brief articles on the release of white captives, White Woman's Village, White Woman's Rock, the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum, the Stage Coach Tavern, Amish and Mennonite communities, and William Green, labor leader.
