Description: This is a factory optional Delco AM FM radio for 1965 Chevelles and El Caminos. The ID tag is still on the the front of the radio showing model number 986203. This radio was made specifically for the 1965 Chevelle/El Camino. It was standard on Z-16 models and optional on all others. 1965 was the first year for the AM FM radio in the Chevelle and is arguably the rarest factory AM FM radio made for Chevrolets. This radio still has the factory multiplex bypass plug installed which makes it work as a stand alone AM FM mono radio. This radio can also have a compatible Delco multiplex stereo adapter plugged into it which will turn it into a 4 channel stereo radio. If you have been looking for a factory optional AM FM radio your for 1965 Chevelle or El Camino, look no further. This radio is in good survivor condition as shown. It appears to be totally original. I see no breaks, repairs, or modifications to this radio. The face is very clean with a crack free lens. The AM FM flip dial fully rotates from the AM to FM position and back to AM. All pushbuttons and dials work as they should. The chrome nose is quite nice with light wear as shown. The case is clean with light surface corrosion and no dents, etc. This is simply a very nice factory original AM FM radio. This radio has been tested and plays loud and clear on both AM and FM bands. That said, AM seems to play louder and pick up more stations than FM. This radio should be serviced before being installed to ensure trouble free use. I made a video showing this radio being tested.
