Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE At the Friday night pep rally, Coach Ara Parseghian promised a victory the next day ... something he only did once in his career. The Irish, led by Joe Theismann and Tom Gatewood, demolished Purdue 48-0 in a driving rainstorm. As the points piled up and the rain poured down, everything was going Notre Dame’s way ... so much so that the Irish students started to chant “Ara Stop the Rain!” … and the rain stopped! Future CBS broadcaster Gary Danielson (a sophomore) played in a Purdue game for the first time. Otis Armstrong and Darryl Stingley were also on Purdue’s squad. This pair of authentic, original publications includes the program for the game and a copy of The Observer, Notre Dame’s student newspaper. The program is in good shape; all pages are still attached as is the cover. There are no tears but a few creases exist on the cover a few other pages. The back cover exhibits the wavy, uneven surface from dried up moisture; only the back cover is affected, not the inside pages. Lastly, there are a few minor spots on the outside edge of the first three pages. The photos show all of these imperfections. The Observer is in very good shape, showing typical signs of discoloration for an older newspaper. All pages are intact, turn easily, and are not brittle. The paper is folded in half as shown in the photos. Both items are originals, not reproductions. All sales are final – No Refunds. Feel free to ask questions if you need more information.
