NICE ANTIQUE C. F. MONROE WAVE CREST WAVECREST 3.25" LIDDED DRESSER / JEWEL BOX

Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely small Wave Crest Art Glass dresser box by the C. F. Monroe Company, c. 1900. Measures 3 1/4" wide and 3" high. Wave Crest glass was produced as an opal glass blank and was then decorated. Originally called "Opal Ware", this glass was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910. Much of the opal glass known as Wave Crest was produced by the Mt. Washington Glass Co. and was then purchased by the C. F. Monroe Co. as undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by their artists. This box features a soft white background with a pale green wash on the undecorated areas. The decoration on the top and four sides of the box includes dainty pink and rose flowers with white enameled accents. The painted floral decoration is strong and has a nice appearance. The top and base are fitted with a decorative brass band. The hinge is intact but there is a slight "play" from side to side. The box opens and closed correctly. The condition of this lovely box is excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. This is a nice little box and would be a functional addition to any vanity.
