He was 65.Born December 29, 1956 to Joseph Reese and Caroline (Kroll) Reese, both originally from Escanaba, Doug grew up in Geneva, Illinois. An outstanding athlete in football, wrestling, and baseball, Doug forged many lifetime friendships with his teammates, coaches, and classmates. He is a member of the Geneva High School Athletic Hall of Fame.Doug graduated from Northern Michigan University before beginning his career as a football and wrestling coach on the high school, collegiate, and international stage. Working with USA Wrestling, Doug coached teams at the Pan Am Games and at several World Championships. He was instrumental in establishing women’s wrestling at the collegiate level. He, himself, earned a silver medal at the wrestling Senior World Championships in 1993. As a coach, he impacted many young people.
