The upper shells are made from a dense PVC material which makes them more durable than hard plastic. Unlike other types of dinosaur styled cars, these are not just the "heads" of the animals but rather feature the entire body of the dinosaur. These are mechanically operated, no batteries required. You pull them back by a few inches and then release them. Pulling them backward will engage the wheels to automatically wind up a spring inside the car and when you release the car, the spring unwinds and propels the car forward. Endless fun for your small kids without having to worry about replacing batteries. Just make sure they don't retract the cars so much and play so rough that they snap the springs!
