NES/OpenTendo/clone Renesas 6116 HS 16K SRAM /w SOIC-DIP converter (new/tested)

Description: This listing is for a 2x pair of 5v 2Kx8 (16K) asynchronous SRAM memory modules for a NES/OpenTendo/clone style build (components typically labelled U1 & U4). New SRAM chips of this nature only come in SOIC/SMT packaging (~6$ each), so have been pre-soldered to a SOIC/SMT to DIP package converter (~18$ each) that brings it to a standard 24p 2-row DIP style socket suitable for a NES repo build. This prevents you from having to harvest these chips off an existing board or source obsolete memory chips. Note that the package size is a single-wide DIP package, not a double-wide DIP package (as original NES SRAM ICs tend to be). A different DIP socket may need to be installed if refurbing from a double-wide DIP package (NES/OpenTendo/clone boards tend to have both single-wide and double-wide socket patterns/solder pads available on the same board). Alternatively, three 12p single-row sockets can be installed to allow either package size. Both memory modules have been tested and verified as working on a pre-existing/working NES console. All components were sourced from Mouser, bought as new, assembled by a skilled technician, and contain no signs of wear/use. High quality solder/flux were used in construction. Both chips come as is shown in above listing pictures, and ship in an anti-static bag with plenty of padding. Note: We advise that you are careful with the bottom pins on the bottom of the PCBs as they tend to be somewhat delicate and difficult to seat properly if they become desoldered. We recommend not removing the plastic pieces on the pin headers as it provides necessary mechanical strength reinforcement for the pins that otherwise are held on by their runs (read as: not a through-hole PCB thus pins are more fragile). Note: Refurbishment of existing NES systems using these modules likely unnecessary unless as a result of component failure.
