Necroscope is the comic adaptation of Brian Lumley’s supernatural spy novel of the same name. Martin Powell scripted the series, while Daerick Gröss illustrated. Before the fall of communism, the Soviet Union developed a covert spy group that used ESP-wielding agents as its main weapon. The agents were “Necroscopes,” psychics that could read the memories of the dead. No other government had a spy unit as developed, until Great Britain began to catch up. Both sides even began employing “spotters,” psychics whose gift was to detect other psychics, as a way of ferreting out enemy agents. With these new abilities being employed, the cold war game of cloak-and-dagger was entering a terrifying new age. Story(Spoilers!) In issue #1, Alec Kyle is a member of a secret supernatural agency of the British Government is visited by Harry Keogh, who tells him of a threat from a Soviet Union Agent Boris Dragosani and an ancient horror. Harry Keogh learns he can communicate with the dead; meanwhile, the necromancer Boris Dragosani reports to his vampire master. Next in issue #2, The story of Boris Dragosani is learned and his relation with an old Wamphyri. Meanwhile Harry Keogh continues telling his life to Alec Kyle and how he learned to speak with the dead. Harry later confronts the man who killed his mother, only to learn that a Russian supernatural agency has been watching him. Next in issue #3, Keogh continues his tale. Viktor Shukshin is visited by Harry. Borowitz orders Dragosani and his new partner Max Batu to go to England and kill Keenan Gormley head of the British E-Branch to get his secrets. Before going Dragosani visits Thibor and Thibor makes of an unwilling Dragosani his son. On England Gormley asks Harry to join the E-Branch. Next in issue #4, Harry Keogh continues his tale. Gormley's spirit then tells Harry of Dragosani's powers as a necromancer. Knowing what he faces, Keogh visits Mobius tomb to unravel his secrets. Meanwhile Dragosani goes to Thibor's place and gets tricked by the ancient vampire. Finally in issue #5, Dragosani and Batu kill Thibor Ferenczy. Asserting his new powers as a vampire, Dragosani takes control of the Soviet E-Branch, killing Batu and Borowitz in the way.
