Natural Smoky Quartz Point w/ Manifest Spessartine GarnetsThis smoky quartz point has spessartine garnets on iy and inside of it. The garnets that are inside are manifest garnets. One large manifest garnet is near the top left of the first photo. There are at least 2 more tiny manifest garnets inside the main crystal, in addition to several garnet crystals protruding to the outside of it. Photos backlit with natural light to show translucency, others taken with cameral flash. Originally collected from Tongbei, Fujian, China.Size is 43mm x 17mm, 16.1 grams.Quartz is Silicon dioxide, SiO2, Hardness is 7.The general formula for most of the garnets is A3B2(SiO4)3. The A represents divalent metals such as calcium, iron, magnesium and/or manganese. The B represents trivalent metals such as aluminum, chromium, iron and/or manganese and in the rarer garnets; vanadium, titanium, zirconium and/or silicon.
