Opening at the top is approximately 1 1/4" wide. Strap should go around a handle that is up to about 3" around.NOTE: This style of sheath is for old fashioned hunting knives with narrow blade and round stacked leather handle or similar. The strap will not fit around a larger handle. Natural finish is light in color but will darken with age, sun, oil.... NOTE: Because of the chemicals used in the tanning and finish, you may find that the durable steel rivets in use on some of this brand of sheath have surface rust or corrosion.
