Description: Absolutely stunning copy of the great, great Milstein recordings of the Bach Partitas and Sonatas for unaccompanied violin, on original 1957 first pressing Capitol 3-LP boxed set PCR-8370. Original green and gold “medallion” labels, including the insert. This is, as I’m sure you all know, one of the all-time great violin albums of all time, and the sound is just beyond belief. One of the greatest records of any kind I have ever heard… and this copy is simply spectacular. All three discs are very nearly perfectly mint and play completely flawlessly and just beautifully. This music is very quiet and even the slightest background noise can be distracting. This whole thing has none of that. Just a perfect playing copy all the way through. I only hear one moment in one spot on side three, where there are two very light ticks at the beginning of the second movement of Sonata No. 2. Barely anything at all! I see a few very light superficial scuffs on that disc, just barely, and all I hear are these two light ticks which are no big deal and barely worth mentioning. The entire rest of the album is absolutely perfect. The other two discs are really more like NM, without the slightest blemish at all. Even that disc is only barely scuffed. Barely. Really this is one of the best copies you will ever see of this wonderful record. The box is also in very nice shape, with no torn corners or dents or creases or anything. Just the upper left corner is fraying quite a bit, and also the lower left but much less so. A couple of scuffs on the back but aside from that is is a truly beautiful cover. The insert is perfect. This is truly, truly a top, gorgeous original copy, very hard indeed to beat this one. The higher shipping is for insurance.
