This book is a recollection of the fine varieties of Napa wine, written by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) after he'd moved to the south of France for health reasons. The text is ripe with yearning for the wines of Napa Valley and their "inimitable fragrance and soft fire." With a historical background in the form of an introduction by American food writer and founder of the Napa Valley Wine Library, M.F.K. Fisher (1908-1992).
