Description: Up for your consideration is a facsimile edition of Nancy Drew’s “The Mysterious Letter" Volume 8 by Carolyn Keene. Penned originally in 1932 by Walter Karig, Applewoods are reprints based on the original usually complete with beautiful glossy internals done by talented artist Russell Tandy. In fact, this book contains one of the funniest ones- Hannah Gruen readying to take a broom to a young lady. (It boggles my mind to think I'm much closer in age to Hannah than I am to Nancy). This particular copy is quite hard-to-find, Second Edition Applewood-certainly among the hardest to find. The dust jacket’s art was also painted by gifted children’s books artist Russell Tandy. I love this cover of Nancy swimming in swanky fine fur. [I know it's not PC. I'd wear one but I'd never buy one. But this was pre-PC.] Anyway, if you look carefully at the cover you'll see Bob Newhart gazing up at Nancy! Now how did he get in there? These are my favorite Nancy Drew books as I certainly appreciate their beauty. The Applewoods are quite popular and are a good investment precisely because they are so lovely. The book and its dust jacket are in gorgeous near pristine++ condition with no obvious wear to the cover and spine of the book. No way that this book has ever been read. The binding is too tight. And I don't see any wear at all. There may be something exceedingly minor like bumping but I don't see it. Beautiful copy! The number line ends with 2, indicative of a second edition. On the front flap "Larkspur Lane" is in the last spot. There is an attractive mylar cover which serves to enhance the dust jacket; it is not affixed and can be readily removed if you so desire. To bottom-line it: I don't sell things I wouldn't want. Condition is quite important for a collection. And I'll also tell you exactly what you are getting. I have given away the lesser copies as high-interest reading books for schools. I like to give out freebies. I appreciate anyone nice enough to send me their hard-earned money.
