With the strength of the solid Mullen mouth, this bit encourages the horse to break at the poll, but keeps him from getting behind the bit, or inverting. The independent side movement allows the rider to isolate one side and pick up a shoulder." The rings have hooks (slots) for fixed attachment of the headstall and reins. This provides leverage action, allowing the rider to use less pressure than a traditional bit and are "very encouraging for horse to relax at poll". "Mylers", "Toklat" and the patent number are marked on the inside of the rings. This bit is used but in excellent condition. It has marks from normal use, but nothing that should affect its performance in any way. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being new, mint condition, I would give this bit a 9. A very nice quality bit!
