It is Beethoven's "Symphony No.5" that is so deeply characterized by his traditional classicism and richly romantic inheritance. After 1800, Beethoven began to lose his hearing, and gradually became deaf by the time he was fifty, when he could not even hear his own music. Even then, Beethoven was able to maintain a sense of music within. His innate abilities and an acute "inner" musical ear allowed for continued creative endeavors that contributed to his rich legacy of classical music.
