Description: Appear to be like-new. Chip legs look nice. However, we sold these exact same chips to (a buyer a couple of months ago) who recently returned them to us indicating they didn't work properly on his Commodore computer. I think he said that the sound was quite garbled. He said he tried other 6581 sound chips on his computer and they seemed to work ok. We originally purchased these and several other identical new 6581R4AR MOS SID chips which we previously sold and/or used here without any problem that we can recall. Therefore, we are somewhat baffled why only 2 out of so many could have been defective. We are wondering if (for some reason) he has a motherboard compatibility problem. Who knows! However, we don't have time to easily test these here anymore-- so we don't know for sure that they are defective. These particular chips have NEVER been tested by us as far as we know. We hate to just throw these away on the chance that they may work on someone else's Commodore motherboard or could be a nice collector's item. Who knows! So we have decided to sell these at a reduced price on an AS IS (non-returnable) basis as a collector's item only. IF the chip(s) do work on your specific Commodore motherboard consider it as a bonus! Special warranty sticker on bottom. Not guaranteed to work properly.
