Buford, Gettysburg, PA, July 1, 1863, 5:15 a.m. Artist Proof limited edition print Signed and Numbered X/L (#10 of an edition of 50) with Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Produced by means of offset lithography and released by the American Print Gallery in 1993. The original was painted contemporaneously with the movie Gettysburg (1993) based upon the novel Killer Angels by Michael Shaara.The approximate dimensions are (rounded): 17" H x 28" W (image) and the print is 21 3/4" H x 32" W.This unframed ARTIST PROOF is in excellent condition. It has been stored flat using archival acid-free materials in a climate-controlled environment. The print is signed by Kunstler (lower left - photo 3) and numbered #X/L (lower right - photo 4). John Buford and his cavalry brigades have come to Gettysburg to delay the Confederate force west of town. It is a heavy responsibility for a brigadier. Today he will open the most decisive battle of the war, deciding the fate of the nation. The general knows that their position on Seminary Ridge must be held so the infantry can arrive, and he tells one of his brigadiers, "you will have to fight like the devil to do it!"
