Every show has been listened to for this purpose. In many cases I will tweak the audio if I can, or edit together the best quality parts of multiple copies of the same show. I do eliminate shows in which I feel the sound is too poor to be enjoyable for listening. Only in very rare circumstances, when the show is extremely hard to find will I include shows with poor sound. Of course, these are vintage shows, so some imperfections should be expected. *I try wherever possible to find the most unusual and hardest to find shows for each star and I update my sets regularly. *In the case of stars who appeared in a high volume of shows, I will offer multiple sets to keep costs low, but variety of shows high. CD #2 Lux Radio Theatre “Confession” (1939 – drama) – Miriam stars opposite Claude Rains, Anne Shirley and Richard Greene in this story of a woman who kills for a good reason and then must explain it in court. The film had starred Kay Francis, Basil Rathbone, Jane Bryan and Ian Hunter. 1 hour. CD #3 Lux Radio Theatre “Tovarich” (1939 – comedy) – Miriam stars opposite William Powell in this story of exiled Russian royalty fleeing the Revolution and landing in Paris where they are reduced to working as servants. The film had starred Claudette Colbert and Charles Boyer. 1 hour. CD #4 Lux Radio Theatre “The Old Maid” (1939 – drama) – Miriam stars opposite Loretta Young in this story of a woman who steals the affections of her cousin’s illegitimate child. The play’s author, Zoe Akins is interviewed after the story. Miriam reprises her role in the film of the same name, which also starred Bette Davis. 1 hour. CD #5 Lux Radio Theatre “The Hard Way” (1944 – drama) – Miriam stars opposite Franchot Tone, Anne Baxter and Chester Morris in this story of a woman who stops at nothing to advance her sister’s show business career. The film had starred Ida Lupino, Joan Leslie, Dennis Morgan and Jack Carson. 1 hour. CD #6 Lux Radio Theatre “Old Acquaintance” (1944 – soap opera) – Miriam stars opposite Alexis Smith and Otto Kruger in this highly entertaining drama of the John Van Druten play about two authoresses and their lifelong friendship. Miriam reprises her role from the film of the same name, which had also starred Bette Davis and John Loder. 1 hour. CD #7 The Campbell Playhouse “It Happened One Night” (1940 – comedy) – Miriam stars opposite William Powell and Orson Welles in this story of a spoiled runaway heiress who meets up with a newspaperman out for a story.
