Description: Hello! This auction is for MINT NEVER HINGED Fine-Very Fine PRECANCELED Sheet Stamp Singles of the 11c and 13c Airmail stamps, Scott C78b and C79b. Both types of C78b Precancels (Precancel Stamp Society type 71 and 81) are included-- "WASHINGTON DC" and WASHINGTON D.C."--one with periods after "D" and "C", and one without. There is only one type of C79b--Type 81. The 2022 Scott catalogue states "No. C78b Bureau Precanceled "WASHINGTON D.C." (or "DC"-more valuable thus), No. C79b "WASHINGTON DC" only; both for use of Congressmen, but available to any permit holder." The 2022 Scott Mint Never hinged catalogue value for C78b type 71 and C79b type 81 is $0.85 each. No catalogue value is given for the scarcer C78b Type 81. The 2020 (most recent) Precancel Stamp Society Bureau Precancel catalog lists the value of a USED copy of C78b Type 81 as $2.00---8 times the value of Type 71. These Stamps are not commonly found with mint never hinged original gum. These stamps are in excellent condition--the gum has no skips or fingerprints, and there are no flaws.
