This piece was acquired in estate auction and the previous owner said he acquired it back in 1990s. Originating from Qiemo County, Xinjiang, Mida jade boasts a rich historical background. However, due to past circumstances, it has remained relatively unknown in the mainstream market. Qiemo County is renowned for its high-quality mountain-sourced jades, often overshadowing the attention towards Mida jade, which was frequently mistaken for and traded as counterfeit nephrite. The hallmark of Mida jade lies in its remarkably pure and thick white color, as evidenced in the accompanying images. Distinguished from the sugary white hues of Qiemo jade, Mida materials tend towards cyan-white and high-white tones, reminiscent of the creamy purity depicted in a candy advertisement. Some Mida jade yields a density value slightly under 2.90, however they are all recognized as authentic Mida nephrite jade nowadays.
