Now when you play Midway, you won't have to approximate the invasion. The naval/air battle will determine exactly which SNLF units survive to land on Midway, and what the result is. No longer will the IJN carrier fleet get to cower in the corner of the search map. They must seek out and attack the US fleet before the US carrier planes find and sink the transport fleet, which must forge straight ahead if it is going to arrive on time. The Japanese land units that each transport carries is designated so that each transport that survives can land specific units. Will there be enough of them left to overcome the US Marine Garrison battalion and artillery that awaits them on the two main islands of the Midway group? There are 17 land forces new style counters representing US Marine infantry and artillery and Japanese Special Naval Landing Force infantry and engineers. These are printed on heavy cardboard and die-cut. They are the same thickness as the standard AH counters. Also included are a folded map of the Midway archepelago on cardstock, rules and hit record sheets for the complete USN and IJN fleets, including markings for the USN battleship fleet that was steaming up from San Diego to act as a reserve. This is a complete game and can be played by itself, but for best enjoyment it should be combined with the AH Midway ('64) game. The Pacific Theatre via Midway (Coral Sea) addition rules would be helpful here too.
