Description: Vintage THOMAS WEBB Amber Crystal Glass OLD BULL'S EYE DESIGN Knobbly Bowl 1950s and SIGNED is in great vintage condition with no chips, cracks & very few small surface marks or scratches to the bottom knobs of the bowl where it touches surfaces. Color is vibrant. Was kept in a glass enclosed display case & not used. This magnificent bowl was created around 1950-1966 in the Old English bulls eye pattern using the mouth blown technique. (this amazing technique means that you will see a few imperfections in the glass...these are NOT cracks but small air pockets captured in the glass ensuring each piece unique features!)The bulls eyes around the surface of the bowl give the piece life and fluidity. Bulls eye designs were first introduced in the 1930s but this one probably dates from a later production period between 1950 and 1966. The bowl is made in crystal glass and has a superb ring to it.Thomas Webb started his career in glass making in 1929 and produced glass under several company names until 1859 when, joined by his sons Thomas Wilkes and Charles, he established Thomas Webb and Sons. The company operated for wellover a century,producing high quality and innovative designs until they finally closed their doors in 1990.
