Description: Midcentury Collectible American Art Pottery Vintage Pottery Rabbit Tile Tray or Wall Hanging by David Gil, Bennington Pottery. This vintage rabbit wall hanging by David Gil has a bold graphic midcentury design, in natural colored stoneware, both also traits of Bennington Potters. Measures 17.5 by about 9.5 inches and just under 1/2 an inch thick. It can sit flat as a tray or table décor, but also has a smooth cutout that could accommodate a hanger for use as a wall decoration. It’s quite heavy at 3.4 pounds. Impressed mark for Bennington Potters *1813 on the back. Very good vintage condition, no cracks or chips. Some roughness on the back edges, please see the photos. One of the rubber scratch protectors is missing on the back. Pottery from local clay deposits was made in Bennington since the 1700s. Although it died down in the first half of the 1900s, in 1948 a potter named David Gil began making ceramic stoneware in a barn as part of an artists' cooperative.
