The details are so tiny and extremely well executed. This piece is gorgeous and filled with white daisy flowers. The floral scene is jam-packed tesserae. This antique frame was entirely handcrafted in the 1800s, so please expect imperfections. Frames with the wooden backing are usually older than their metal counterparts. There are several examples of wooden micro mosaic frames of similar size and details listed for several thousand dollars. I've priced this one under market value for a quick sale. There is a lovely rich patina on the wood with minor cracking. The wooden frames are rarer to come by and usually worth a bit more money. Total frame measures roughly 7" x 4 3/4" at the widest areas x 16.69 mm thick. The oval picture opening is roughly 92 mm x 64 mm. There are minimal missing tesserae (tiny handmade pieces of glass tiles) with several recessed and replacement pieces. The oval shaped glass is intact.
