Description: Meylan Chronograph 1960s Decimal Scale. Serviced! Excellent! Vintage. 805-64. The watch is in excellent condition. It was serviced a few months ago and worn only twice. The chronograph start, stops, and resets. All the subdials work. This rare watch is powered by the Lemania caliber 2520 (the ebauche for the iconic Omega caliber 321). The Lemania Caliber 2520 is a manual-winding chronograph movement equipped with 17 jewels. This movement is notable for its reliability and has been utilized in various timepieces, including those by Omega, where it is known as the Caliber 321. The 17-jewel configuration aids in reducing friction and wear, contributing to the movement’s durability and precision. “The Meylan name has been associated with a few different Swiss watchmaking firms over the decades, but today's watch was sold by the Meylan Stopwatch Corporation, which was established in New York in 1921. The company, now located in New Jersey, continues to specialize in timing instruments, such as stop watches, tally counters, and time-study boards.” “This 1960s chronograph is similar in style to a number of chronographs from the same period, indicating what was popular in watch design during the decade. It has a clean dial configuration with a single line of text, indicating the company name, while the rest is purely utilitarian and beautifully executed. The silver two-tone dial is stunning, especially under various light conditions, while the thin bezel maximizes the total dial area.” “Meylan was a specialist in timing instruments, so it makes sense that one of the more interesting details on this watch is its decimal scale, which is printed in red on the periphery of the dial. Unlike a traditional 60-second track, a decimal scale is adjusted to measure elapsed time to 100th of a minute. While it seems unconventional, the decimal scale was originally created for industrial and scientific purposes.” PLEASE NOTE:. Watch will come on the black strap.
