Description: This antique silverplate holder castor is a rare find that dates back to the late 19th century. Made by Meriden B Co., it features intricate American Victorian pattern and style, which adds a touch of vintage elegance to any room. The caddy is perfect for holding various items and is a must-have for any collector of Victorian-era antiques. The silverplate composition is durable and long-lasting, making it a great addition to any collection. Based on mark and pattern number this piece dates back to pre 1887 as that is when the quadruple plate mark was dropped but due to the early pattern number I'd say a good deal earlier. It is some type of caddy one side looking almost like maybe a knife holder is it has an opening where apparently something sat? The holder rims are oblong crescent shape and appear as tho whatever they held must have had a rounded bottom. It is built almost like a decanter holder however is much too small to hold a wine decanter/ bottle but a smaller bottle of some sort maybe? If you know what type of holder this is I would love to hear from you. Good condition does have patina and could use a polish if you desire some like the patina some don't I'll leave that up to the buyer. Measures approx 7" long, 3 1/2" wide and 8" tall. Please ask any and all questions or request additional photos prior to bidding as I do not accept returns refunds on antique vintage used items. Any and all claims for shipping damage are to be made by buyer thru appropriate shipping carrier not thru myself or Ebay.
