Description: Here we have a very cool, round and colorful, very-vintage 1950s restaurant menu from the Zurich, Switzerland, Airport. The mid-century modern design is by Gruter, and features people around the world in traditional dress with their national cuisines. The interior, in black with colorful graphics, has daily specials typewritten on pastel paper scraps attached on the left, with a printed permanent menu on the right. We've been unable to find another one like this menu, not even with google image search, so it appears to be quite rare. We have lots of other rare and interesting restaurant menus in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. Vintage: center medallion contains the number "58," which we believe indicates 1958 Provenance: From the estate of the Lake Bluff, Illinois, entrepreneur and epicurean, Othon Ochsner (1934-2017) who had a passion for collecting fine wines, cookbooks and restaurant menus from his travels around the world. Besides being the president and CEO of Ochsner International, and the managing director of Ochsner Auto and Bike Museum, Ochsner Object d' Art Gallery, and Ochsner Cook Book Library, he belonged to the Ordre Des Canardiers, a French organization dedicated to the preservation of French culinary traditions; and Les Amis d' Escoffer Society, which describes itself as "the nation's foremost fraternity of dedicated gastronomes.... with a membership consisting of chefs de cuisine, hotel executives, restauranteurs, and business executives who gather monthly for epicurean meals." Approximate Measurements: please see photos with rulers Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best and are the most important part of the description--please zoom in on them and examine them carefully. Overall good or better very-vintage condition, with light edge and corner wear, as well as spots of surface tears on the front, and on both sides of the interior, while the back has a strip of what appears to be clear tape. The front center medallion contains handwriting, and one of the daily special scraps of paper appears to be missing on the left. Overall, a clean and fresh piece, with nothing sticky or otherwise gross, and no funky odors.
