Description: MASSIVE ANTIQUE CARVED GILT-WOOD MIRROR Late 19th Century Massive Antique Carved Gilt Wood Mirror Rectangular form with very exuberant, carved foliage decoration. Ornamental large scroll and leaf design. This Mirror was purchased by me in the 1980’s and at the time I was told it’s place of origin was Italy. I have owned this piece for approximately 30 years. It was purchased for over $12,000. many years ago. It is from the late 1800’s - Late 19th Century The materials are gilt-wood, a very large and heavy beveled glass mirror in very good antique condition and wood. The condition of the mirror , in particular the Gilt wood is GOOD-FAIR considering the age of the piece. The Gilt-wood has chips and deterioration. There are areas where the gold has chipped off and there are 2-3 areas where the wood is missing from the mirror surround. Please study all the photos carefully. Everyone who sees it is amazed and it always elicits comments about it’s beauty and its massive scale. The piece does require a high ceiling as it is large.
