Maselec MLA-2 Compressor Service/Re-Cap Kit

Description: This is a service kit for older Maselec MLA-2 model Stereo Compressor / Limiters, common to many mastering rooms and recording studios around the globe and renown for their excellent sound and near faultless operation. That said, if you have an older grey face or an early black face that has made it's way onto a couple thousand records it may be showing signs of age like both of my personal units were. I re-worked mine and they look, feel and sound like new - the 'good stuff' isn't cheap to to keep the cost down I bought larger quantities than I needed and made 2 kits out of the 'leftovers'. I did something similar when I serviced my EAR825Q's a few years back and folks liked those so I figured, WTH. This kit includes replacements for the 6 coded switches and all electrolytic caps on the filter PCB and in the power supply. All the caps are top-quality, brand new from Panasonic, Nichicon and Vishay/BC. NOTES: This will NOT work on newer MLA-2's as they changed switch style - please inquire with your serial number to be certain. You may also justpop the top off and look at the back of the filter board - if the pins for the 3 small switches are in the straight line - this kit will work. If they are in a circle - this kit will NOT work. Also - the PCB's inside the MLA are very dense and proper re-work requires the correct tools. I would NOT recommend attempting this with an iron and braid or a sucker unless you are very learned at those methods. A re-work gun with the correct, small tip, the decent flux paste etc are a must in my book - sample size of one. I will provide a series of pictures and basic instructions to help guide the re-work if you desire.
