Description: I have only ever seen 3 of these. This is the second one I've owned and the third I found on Pinterest (last photo, bad screen shot). African masks have many facial expressions but I think this friendly one is quite unique. It is beaming, endearing, happy. Masterfully carved from a single piece of wood, it almost looks like it was modeled from Play Doh! It has a handsome patina and the long scooped ears are painted red, which has faded considerably. The Mambila are not especially known for their masks compared, for instance, to the Baule or Senufo. There are nine attachment holes around the chin area. It is in fine condition. It is about 7" tall and 15" wide. U.S. buyers only please. [Boston Primitive]
