Description: Civil War Store Card for Lawton H. Robinson, Groceries and Notions Dealer in Marshall, Michigan Fuld MI610C-3a (copper) R-4 Choice UNC Scarce variety and among the finest known Mr. Robinson obtained store card tokens from Cincinnati token maker John Stanton. A custom die was prepared which misspelled the town' s name as MARSHLL. This error die was used to strike tokens with two different reverse dies; however, surviving examples are very rare. A second die was prepared that corrected the spelling mistake. This die was used in combination with five stock reverse dies for token production. Most of the varieties created are extremely rare numismatic strikes; however, two different varieties were struck for circulation on copper planchets. This token is an example of one of the varieties intended for circulation. It is a choice uncirculated specimen of this scarce variety and its quality places it among the finest known. Mild silvery toning and cartwheel luster aren't captured well in the photos.Shipping is free. Should this token fail to meet your expectations, it can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. Sales tax, if applicable, is collected by Ebay and submitted directly to state authorities. We appreciate your business!
