Poipu is on the southeastern shore of Kauai which has some of the best weather on the island, and is essentially the halfway point to everything on the island - north shore, Lihue airport in one direction, Waimea Canyon and Polihale beach to the west. Poipu's beaches are probably the calmest on the island. March arrival time is ideal for whale watching! Our last trip was a week later and we saw humpback whales, spinner dolphins, and even the more rare sighting of bottlenose dolphins! Koloa, nearby, has ATV tours, ziplines; nearby to Lihue airport and Port Allen where various helicopter, ultralight adventures, and boat tours are based. Golf courses nearby. No shipping required; supply reservation names upon purchase to place the reservation in your name. A credit/debit card will be required at check-in for incidentals and Hawaii hotel taxes; in 2023, the daily tax "VOCC TAX" was $21.27. Expect a few percent higher for the current tax rate.
